Kids BBQ Rules

Parental Guidance:

This is a Kids Cook-Off! Parental supervision is required for safety at all times.

Kids should be the Head Cooks. Adults may guide, but they may not pre, season, cook, sauce or present the entry for the child.

Cooking & Equipment

Kids must provide their own pit, charcoal, and fire starters.
Pork tenderloin will be provided by the Event Organizer and distributed at the Kids Cook Meeting.
Kids may season, trim and prepare the pork tenderloin however they like.
Each competitor must turn in 6 equal portions for the judges.

Regulations and Instructions:

All prepping and cooking must be done in the designated Kids BBQ Area. Meat cannot leave this area.
The Kid Cook must be the one handling the meat, seasoning, and the cooking.
- Adults may supervise and give advice, but may not perform the cooking tasks.
- Adults may hold injection containers, but kids must operate the injector themselves.
Entries must be submitted in the official turn-in boxes provided.
- Only competition meat and garnish (greens) are allowed in the box.
- No foreign objects, decorations, or pooling sauces/juices.
Competition meat may not be marked in any way except natural grill marks.
Meat may be trimmed before cooking, but not after.
If a Kid Cook leaves the pit for any reason other than restroom/medical, they must notify the Kids BBQ Rep.
If at any time the Kid Cook is not the primary cook, the team will be disqualified.
